The nickname I used to use back in 2009 when you were broadcasting via the cameras in your home was peepviewer.  I used to chat with you a fair amount Hal, and doctorhow was there a lot too.  I noticed my nick was not in the documentary Hal! sheesh!

I wrote Sally an email at the end of your home broadcasting and told her that me and some others felt used by you, and this is still true for me.

The documentary had many aspects in it that I had no idea you would put in the documentary.  You did a lot of detail on some people who broadcast their lives from their homes.  The documentary had a lot of insightful comments in it.

I wonder though, how many people broadcast their lives from their homes.  I wonder what the statistics are for that.  I don’t think it’s an important trend, just another way for people to express themselves.  With facebook you can put as little on there as you want about your life, or as much, so I barely include that in your idea of peep culture.  Really the documentary is an expression of how you see the world Hal, and the book that came out of that.  And you made a buck off the whole thing.  But as far as relevance goes, I don’t really think that the peep culture trend as you define it, is that important.  The financial crisis, global climate change, riots all over the world, food and water shortages, those are much more important trends to be concerned about.  I would hope the CBC would think about what’s important to make a documentary about, when spending money that they had to beg the federal government for.  Anyway, you showed a lot of initiative and put a lot of work into your book and documentary Hal, so you get many kutos for doing that.  I’m sure writing when you don’t really have anything to say is a hard thing to do.  (I know that sounds mean, but, it’s just an observation.)

You didn’t delve much into the chat phenomena you experienced by broadcasting from your home.  And I remember I used to tell you the same thing in 2009.  I can see you ignored all my insightful comments.  But then, if you’d have paid attention to them, you might have had to re-consider your own arguments.  Still, a good effort and a good job.

Take care Hal and best of luck in all your endeavors… peepviewer smile

I don’t think the existence of huge global issues like starvation and war means that we shouldn’t comment on social trends. I think Hal’s book does a great job of following “peep” from it’s beginnings in newspaper to it’s global impact via the internet.

I wonder if this peepviewer would have felt less “used” if Hal had used his nickname in the doc or paid more attention to their “insightful” comments.

‘Peep Culture’ has great potential. I hope now that the TV version has aired that y’all don’t lose enthusiasm for promoting the DVD. I think the feature length film will really show how Hal’s attitude about Peep changed as the project developed and he got more involved.

The idea of standing outside of Peep then participating in different aspects of Peep in order to share the view from the inside is fascinating…and entertaining.

I know ‘Peep Culture’ was a TV news-type piece but did it get any reviews the next day?

You need also to make sure that the style of your beds fit into the style of your other furniture pieces in your room. For example, you might decorated your room much to transitional style and in this case, it will be inappropriate to get a modern platform bed for your bedroom.modern platform bed

I am watching the documentary on Quebec’s ‘Canal D’ I found it really interesting. I ave a question:

Is Social Media a peep-show or a way of communication?

Sean is 26 years old, let's celebrate!

I also watched this documentary on Canal D, and also have a question.  What was the name of the application shown that keeps track of your activities?  It was after the part where that guy ordered a hotdog and updated the foods he had eaten.  It also documented his sex life.  Is it for Mac or PC?

Every week, a new story emerges of a local community rocked by police violence. These stories typically follow a similar pattern: a young man of color, alleged to be carrying a weapon that is never recovered, gunned down by police officers in a mysterious altercation that, too often, disappears under a mountain of police pressure and legal mismanagement.
