Here’s a funny little story about a model, her nanny and their Reality TV show. Nanny fired for (maybe) lying about vacation. Model flits around looking hot. Nanny tells all to a tabloid. British network sued for invading the nanny’s privacy. Tabloid apologizes for invading model’s privacy. (I particularly like the part where ITV says they didn’t invade the nanny’s privacy when they showed her room on tv without permission because her only right to the room was “terminated as soon as her employment ended”.)

Interesting trial going on in the UK pitting Formula One racing boss Max Mosley against the tabloids. Mosley’s lawyer says over 3 million people have viewed the secretly taped video of his S&M orgy (possibly NAZI themed, the paper says yes, Mosley says no, the judge will decide). For full details read about it in the NY Times . But as you read, keep in mind just how Peep this whole media circus is – both the original tabloid story and the trial taking the way we can derive entertainment from a scandal to a whole new level. (The video, the original article, the trial, and who knows what will be next? – TV movie anyone?)

So I spent several hours yesterday updating my Facebook profile to provide a more complete Peep experience for myself and anyone else who happens to drop by. (If you're not yet my Facebook friend, add me...)
I added an application called All About Me in which I answer many questions including "What's your favourite colour?" and "Have you ever had a one night stand?" Then I started updating my regular profile, you know, "Activities", "Favourite Movies" etc. an hour later I was still listing my music preferences.
As I was doing this, a friend in New York tried to Skype me. I answered her call and plugged in my headphone-mic thingie, but it wasn't working. She could hear me, but I couldn't hear her. Being the obsessive I am, I tinkered around with this thing for, like 15 minutes, refusing to give up and just call her on a land line. Finally I did give up, and we talked a bit on the phone but I'd spent so much time trying to get Skype to work that she had to go and pick up her daughter from day camp.
In the meantime, somehow I'd managed to close Facebook without saving my newly updated exhaustive list of music preferences. Ah well. Back to the drawing board. This morning, when the kid woke up at 6am demanding apple juice before going back to sleep, I realized why things were screwed up: I'd forgotten that I'd added the webcam with microphone to my tech arsenal, which had replaced the headphone on the computer. Basically I was using the wrong device. Thanks to E. for the 6am wake up and helping me solve my tech issue of the day!
Got a busy day today, but will update later in the afternoon after, among other things, I've dropped in at the SpyTech store and collected some gear...

Wow. At 9:30 this morning my computer suddenly and randomly rebooted. I was working on, what else?, the Peep book at the time. When I opened the file again, I knew imediately something was wrong. I scrolled down and saw that the file was only 19 pages long. Uh, excuse me Mr. computer, I seem to be missing 270 pages? I broke into a light sweat. I closed everything and opened it again, which for non tech types like me is the usual way to solve any kind of computer problem. But the result was the same. Deep breath. I did a search for the file to see if a back up or something would come up. A backup did come up, automatically generated by a program that copies my documents to an external drive. The question is, was it the good file or the corrupted file? I gritted my teeth, shut my eyes, and clicked on thef file. And there it was, all 275 pages or so. Wow. Scary. If W hadn't been home I would have had myself a shot of vodka. Didn't though. She disapproves of morning drinking.
Don't forget to join me at next week's upcoming Hal Needs More Friends event.

Okay, I finally got a Webcam. I’m going to take regular pics of myself looking beauteous in my office. If there is sufficient desire expressed, I’ll also do topless. I need to really feel the energy though, people. Also, maybe some videos? Let me know. People. I. Need. To. Feel. It.
